Well I finally got around to updating my HD24 from version ONE to 1.20. Since I do not use the Ethernet Connection since getting my Fireport, I decided to try the MIDI way. Part of the first process deletes the existing OS, so turning back is not an option once you pass that point. I planned on using Freeloader since it was RECOMMENDED by Alesis’ website. To make a long story short, the data was transferred too fast for the HD24 to load the data. I tried several times and even try using SONAR, but the data’s load speed was just too fast (2 times at that). By this time the Alesis Tech Support was closed and I was afraid what will happen to my system if I shut the power off and tried again once their support opened up the next day. Out of frustration, I killed the power and rebooted the HD24. IT came up saying it had an invalid OS and it went into a MIDI receive mode automatically for the OS to be loaded. I was actually hoping I could access the FTP after rebooting, but no luck.
Now I knew I had no choice but to load via MIDI. I figure other people have gone through the same thing, so I got on the web and came straight to this site. As I was looking at several threads I had seen before I saw that Gilliland had mentioned the HD24 Yahoo Group. So I went there and found several editors posted, and downloaded SendSX122.exe and installed it on my PC. It had an option to delay the transfer of the data and it work like a charm. So if anyone wants to upgrade their OS, this is the program to use. I would also like to thank Gilliland for pointing me to that group to get the info I needed in a bind.
