I am planning on buying a new Mac, but I dont want to fork out the dough for a 733 processor. If i get one with a 466 I think it will be good enough for my needs now; however in a couple years if I want to upgrade to a new processor is that a pain in the ass. For some reason I think Mac processors are not as easy to upgrade as Pcs....is this true?

thanks

I upgraded my 7300 to a g4/400 joe card and it was a piece of cake ....

Sonnet, xlr8, and joe card aopng many others make upgrades.Infact, if you have a sawtooth g4 you can now upgrade to a dual cpu g4/500 with sonnets new card.

Generally though sonnets stuff is more expensive but not any better.
As for upgrading your system I'm not exactly sure how that would work since a 733 card has yet to be developed. But, this is the best site to find these things out, theres a user database that rates various daughterboards there.

If you can waith until summer macworlkd we might see what jobs has up his sleeve a bit more clearly. I'm guessing this would include a mp 733 g4 wich would then make the current 733 g4 a bit lower in price.
