I'm upgrading my audio computer. It had an ASUS A7V333 motherboard and an AMD Athlon XP 2200 processor. I upgraded the RAM to 1gb of PC3200, now I want a better motherboard and processor. I'm thinking about a AMD 3000+, but have no idea for a motherboard. Any suggestions?

i'm in a similar situation as yous. I'm going to go with AMD as well but i'm gonna get the Athlon 64 3200. I would suggest the 64 series insted of the Barton but i really don't know much about cpu's so other people may e able to help. AS for the motherboard, i'm getting the Asus K8V deluxe. it looks sweet and i hard it works well in DAW's.

The XP+ processors with Barton aren't that good as the 64 series, but many people claim that they are not worth the big price difference.

Asus is good, but I'd definately go with the NVidea chip sets- stay away from VIA. Asus has some very nice NVidea based mobos- Check out newegg.com

I'm leaning towards the ASUS "A7N8X-E Deluxe" mobo and 3000 Barton cpu. I would like a 3000 64, but I am trying to spend as close to $200.
