Upgrade route... mind boggling

Ok, so after reading hundreds of threads across the internet on upgrading the studio, I have come to detirmine that it is all subjective, dependent on your current studio set up.

I want to know whether to go for a new AD/DA and buy a new pre and monitor control system for it, or whether I just need new monitors. In terms of price range, $1000-$2500 (thinking RME fireface400 to the Aurora 8 with firewire). Any thoughts you have that would help me understand what needs to be fixed up, would be greatly appreciated. Or if you have a better idea, share it!

My room is acoustically treated, both with auralux diffusors and foam panels, as well as some DIY treatment for recording. It may be a little too treated, not sure how to notice now that i'm used to the sound...

Now, I'm an in-the-box mixing engineer, I only record my own vocals. So my importance lays from the box to the monitors. This is my current set up;

AT4047 / SM7b > FR saffire Pro 24 (pre / interface) > Cubase SX3 on a good pc > Interface again > HSM50s and KRK RP8s (krk for secondary listening)...

I can make good mixes on this set up, I know what I'm doing when it comes to engineering, I just dont have money to spend on every little peice of gear I want. But I'm getting to a point where I know something is holding me back from great mixes that isn't me.

what do you need

what gear do you have now?
what problems do you perceive with the current set up?
what do you want an upgrade to achieve?
what is your budget?

the answer lies between do nothing and replace it all.
cant suggest a proper action without more info.

I actually answered these questions in my post... lol -

"AT4047 / SM7b > FR saffire Pro 24 (pre / interface) > Cubase SX3 on a good pc > Interface again > HSM50s and KRK RP8s (krk for secondary listening)..."

"My room is acoustically treated"

"In terms of price range, $1000-$2500..."

"I know something is holding me back from great mixes that isn't me"

The clarity just doesnt seem to be there, so i cannot seem to tweak the bottom end very well. To be honest, the KRK monitors have a very loose bottom end, and the yamaha HSM50s just don't have any! But then I know that ADDA converters will open my sound up a little to hear frequencies in a little more detail. I'm indecisive!
