Updating OS

Bit of a dilemma. I want to update the OS on my VS 2480. Trouble is I don't have a SCSI optical drive.
Is there a way of connecting a USB optical drive?

Yes, I bought such a drive for a grandson when I found the recon laptop I bought him came with no optical drive. Worked fine. Might be slower than a built in jobby?
Note, buy a 'Y' USB cable so that the drive can draw power from two USB ports.

I've seen connectors that will let you connect a SCSI device like a CDROM to a standard USB computer, but I don't know of one that goes the other way, to let a USB drive connect to the Roland's SCSI port.

You might investigate using a SCSI to SD card adapter. Check some of the Roland forums to see if anyone has successfully used one in place of a CDROM. I know of people who have used and IDE to SD card adapter to replace the hard drive in Yamaha AW16Gs.
