I put an old unused D824 on Ebay to help pay for some new gear. I started seeing many positive comments about this series of Fostex recorders. Many replaced the noisy fans and some put in new opamps. I connected the D824 to a Mackie Blackbird via toslink and some old recordings sounded amazing. Are there any tutorials for updating fans and opamps? Also, the manuel is very weak on recording at 96k. I see that I can select 96k in the menu, but, will the toslink send 96k to my RME totalmix as spdif? Since there is only one Adat out, I'm sure it will not do the SMUX double speed Adat at 96k. I would appreciate any suggestions on getting this oldy but goody up to date.
