Taming the World--for now
Hey gang. I'm out from under the studio rock and have climbed back up over the edge of the earth to rejoin my comrades here at the songwriters forum. This is what I have been up to. The album is nearly done. (95% done 60% to go. :D ) I posted Fell Into Your Eyes here a while back. The link will give you a chance to hear it completed. I see that everyone has been busy and that's great. I also see some new blood and that's even greater. :D :D

Cool new website at sonicbids.com Dave......

Wow, Fell Into Your Eyes sounds really professional.....The time spent in the studio has paid off big time.

The vocals are fabulous - the tone is sweet and the performance is top notch.

The lyrics are cool - I like the "back and forth" of the emotions you describe. Somewhat hopeful then definitive when you realize that the prize is indeed yours.

The "falling" section/bridge is great - really gives nice feel to the song.

Well written, recorded and performed......I'm downloading while I still can. Even at 64KBS this sounds excellent....

Would be great to hear some studio details if you are so inclined.....

:) :D :) :D

OK. Here's the deal........I finally figured out what I wanted to do with this song and this was it. I am pleased with the concept but not the results. I wanted something that had no drums at all but still was able to pound through hard and fast. I will probably record the vox again before it's all over but this is close to final form in every other respect. Against standard practice, no compression whatsoever was used on the bass. I just let it rumble through below everything else. You can get away with that stuff when there isn't anything else taking up that frequency space on your speaker cones. The acoustic guitar was sent two directions; one mic'd and the other signal was a line in through the DI. Then I panned them left and right. The electric was done the old fashioned way by sticking a 57 on the grill and playing the amp at earbleed levels. (Yeah, I did too enjoy it!) The tambourine was played five feet out from my T3 tube mic to emphasize the offbeats. A lot of noise for three guitars and a tambourine. Vox were through the T3 and an EH 12AY7 cheapie pre with a touch of compression during mixdown.

WOW....I just found this....amazing. It is also kookey...since only recently, I have referred to 'falling into' someones eyes and getting lost as in waters of the sea....WOW. I think I even put that into a song too.. I write so much, I seem to fall into confusion...... :D

Dave....I love this song. The lyrics are wonderful!!!

The emotion you express is heartfelt.

I love the energetic drive that just sort of takes over. Strange, I could have sworn you had a drum in there !!! The tambourine is an excellent addition !!

Kudos my fiddling friend.

True :)

Welcome back :)

All projects are 95% complete until they are over, so your 60% estimate may be optimistic!
