Unwanted Click Noise

I'm trying to fix a metal guitar track by re-recording only a small part of it. But then I'll get a click sound when I replay it. Any advise is helpful. I'm using Reaper. Also, this is my first time mixing.

You'll get a click if you're punching where there's a signal. Try to find some silence and punch in there. You may have to punch in a little earlier than the actual part you want to fix.

Other than that, try cross-fading the 2 parts where you punched in.

+1 to crossfading

Many times if Snap to Zero Crossings is activated (assuming your DAW has something like this), you may not have to employ a crossfade.

If you hear a click you should be able to see it in the waveform to isolate it.
