Unwanted Chorus Effect

How come when i take a vocal track, then loop it thru an effects processor and bring it back into the console and mix it in with the original vocal I get this unwanted chorus effect, especially on the S's???

I've noticed the same thing when i compress a vocal track and accidentally leave the original uncompressed track in the mix.

What can I do to get rid of it?

Thanks,
T

Sounds like you've got a phasing issue, like maybe there's some latency associated with the effect your using causing a slight delay with the original

Make sure your effects are set to 100% wet so you are not mixing the dry signal back into the mix.

The compression problem will be hard to overcome because plugins do cause latency and when you combine the compressed signal with the dry signal you risk some comb filtering (the chorus sound). You could try recording the compressed signal and then sliding that track forward in time until it lines up perfectly with the original track.

thanks! you're right i wasn't putting 100% effect on my signal.

i'm not even sure why...

thanks again,
T
