I got a Tascam MS16. Does anyone have an idea of where to find an AQ-65 autolocator ? or any remote ?

Any ideas welcome. Also the manual/schematics so i could try to build one myself.

Thanks,

There is a "remote control" connector on the back of the transport unit that will let you control basic transport functions. All it takes is connecting specific pins on the connector to ground.Pin #1 -Play.Pin#2 -Rewind.Pin#3-Stop.Pin#22-Record.Pin#41-Fast forward. Also Pin#5-RTZ,(return to zero),and finally Pin#6-STC,(search to cue).Pin#55 and 60 are ground.

thx, yeah i was looking at the pinout. even thought of designing one myself by using a micro controller. will you think there will be people interested in this ? as if i go through that i'd likely do more than one. I was looking at developing an iPhone/ipad app to control basically any reel to reel recorder over wifi. what do you think ?

Why use a microcontroller? All you need are some switches in a metal box.You could also modify the connector on a Tascam RC-71 remote,(originally used for the Tascam 38), for basic transport functions. The AQ-65 shows up periodically on Eb@y.

i want to have autolocation points. So i enter the time and the tape goes there, like the functions on the AQ-65. havent seen any on ebay lately. but will definitely keep an eye on it.
