Unix/Linux anyone?

In my search for the ever stable recording DAW I was wondering if anyone was using a Linux/Unix platform to record on? If so, please give details. I'm just curious...

there is no software i have ever found for linux. only a few companies even release hardware specs to allow 3rd parties to write drivers. I think its still some way off. The main problem is that there is no market yet. Until its an actual competitor in the desktop market none of the niche computer programs will be around. win2k = beast for cheap recording right now. i have Mandrake on my laptop though.

The problem is that you will never be able to use your direct-X plugs in Linux. VST I don't know about...
