that is where the studio is going, we were given the space indefinately in trade for 2 hours work per week per person on the Opera house.
The section of the basement we will use is finished with a vocal booth allready built. There is a stairway going up to the stage. If there are live acts we should be able to record them by stringing mics up there, cool.
Jimmy Eppard is coming over to help us out with the layout.

This is going to be fun.

Sounds pretty cool. Have you got pictures or any kind of detail of how the space is laid out? I would think that you could create a decent tracking setup using the stage with some gobo's. If the theater has decent acoustics, some well placed room mics would make for some cool ambience, also.

Darryl.....

I would like to get some before and after pictures. Don't know what the acoustics are like upstairs in the opera house itself. Will find out though.
I thought noone was going to take any intererst in this at all.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but there is at least one of us that is interested :D

Darryl.....

The opera house is cool, holds about 500, we will set up on stage sometime within the next six months and see what we get, but the basement studio first.
I will definatley try and get some pictures to post.

Finished sheetrocking the walls on wensday. we also insulated the cieling and the sheet rock will be going up there next

We demand to see pictures!
Put that hammer down, and pick up a camera!!

Do it now!

I dont have a camera but a guitar player i work with is coming over with one and I will have pictures soon I hope. :)

cieling is now sheetrocked. :)

We got the heater guys coming in soon to install the new gas furnace.

Boy am i glad we are not paying for any of this.

how did you pull that one off?

(not paying)

We are doing ten hours work a month around the place for rent.
Just the insulating, sheetrocking and heating instalation, and a few other odds and ends should take care of about six months.

A woman from NYC bought the place and wants to fix it up and get some kind of
artsy fartsy thing going, she is paying for all the materials.

the new heat is in. the whole large room is completely sheetrocked and taped, ready to be painted. the other section, need one half wall sheetrocked to be finished. Have the lumber to section it into two isolated sections.
Going to build control room next, leave existing vocal booth inside. Looking for fixed sections of patio doors that are doublepane insulated with gas to turn sideways and frame in for control room windows.
Its getting there, sorry no pictures, I dont have a camera. :)

Uhhhh

You're killing is with all this suspense  My overactive imagination can only handle so much verbal description.

Need to see it........Need to see it........Need to see it........

bought two double paned argon insulated fixed windows today for the control room , need to get one more.
Might be able to get some pictures this week, other guitar player is supposed to come down and do some work and he has a digital camera.

the main room will have the carpet installed on tuesday and we will be ready to move in.The main room is all sheetrocked, painted, tirmmed, etc.The control room is not finished yet, all the sheetrocking is done, need to tape and paint, nor the isolation rooms. Just getting the equipment in there will be nice.

Sorry no pictures, I am not a visual type person and have never owned a camera and probably never will
The rest of the band are lazy asses, they came over once to help but didn't bring a camera.
They are so lazy I told them i am starting an all original band and the only guys coming from the band are the sax and bass player.
I told them not to bother practicing or playing my originals anymore cause I am tired of butchering them.

carpet is in the big room. We will move the equipment in there for now on monday.
