Uncoloured Headphones for Monitoring?

I'm an apartment dweller so I do most of my listening thru headphones, late at night. I've been using AKG HP40's and as far as comfort, I can wear them for hours with no notice of discomfort. The thing I don't like about them is that they colour the sound a little more than I'd like.

So, what headphones do you use and why do you like/love/dislike them?

I think the (AKG) K-240's are about the flattest, least colored I've ever used. If I had a gun to my head and was forced to mix a song with headphones, I'd probably take those.

The Sennheiser 580's are far more uncoloured than the 280's -the 280's are better for tracking though because they are a closed design.

The 580's are also much more comfortable to wear than the AKG 240's. I also think they blow them away as far as sound. The 580's are often compared to Grados and other high end cans that cost many times as much.

I have a couple of sets of the 240M's and can wear them forever. I wanted something that was close-backed for the recording process tho' - so I finally decided on the Senn HD280's.

Afte returning two pairs - on one the left side refused to work, and on the other the headband fell apart after 3 days - despite how much I liked the sound - I finally settled on the Sony MDR7506's...

They're pretty nice, but a much 'brighter' sound than the AKG's. I can't wear them for too long as they make my ears sweat and then start to itch. Sounds kinda funny, but its annoying when one is in an extended session.

No that doesn't sound funny. They really need to be comfortable but also not bleed. I have the problem with bleed when I'm recording vocals because I like the volume loud to really get into it, but some headphones that I've worn that hold out noise also make your ears sweat something fierce. Its hard to find that happy medium, but wearing for long periods is really important to me because I'm like the weekend binger who works for 6-14 hours when I'm on a roll and a lot in the middle of the night.
