im recording some hip hop vocals at my friends house. He just got an ultragain pro, and is still learning how to use it. I was just wondering what people think about it. thanks for any input

If your on a budget it works. Is not unusable. If you could get the Joemeek threeQ you'd be happer. I have some Behringer gear and it gets the job done. You'll have people say its total junk, but its not. If all you want is a simipro recording than you'll be fine. Its more about knowing how to mix and master the final product.

I would recommend a desent mic. NT1000 or something

I've rarely used them for single instruments, but I've recorded several orchestral performances through a Behringer (Ultragain Pro 2200?) with very decent results. I wouldn't rely on the EQ much, but the thing works pretty well.

I think you should go over to your friend's house and work until you guys can make some killer music on whatever gear he happens to have before you worry about new gear.
