Suck 'em and see!
I have a Delta 1010 soundcard and the breakout box runs on a 240v/9vAC power supply. I'm in the UK

If I ordered another one from america (they retail at twice the price here) would it just be a matter of ordering a new 240/9v supply from M-Audio?

Maybe, but that's a big maybe. There are two issues to consider.

1 - Sometimes manufacturers change other things besides the power supply when building for different markets. Sometimes there are things they add or take away depending on the country's rf emmision standards, etc. There might also be a foot print issue inside the unit. When you open it up to insert the new power supply, it might not fit.

2 - Some products use the frequency of the power input signal as a reference for other signals generated insode the unit. Power in the UK is 50Hz (I think), but in America it's 60Hz. This used to be a lot bigger issue in the olden days (i'm dating myself), but it's still might be a problem.

Could you call the company or an authorized service center and ask?

the unit uses an external power supply so my thinking is UK and US versions both run on 9V AC and all I need to do is order myself the UK supply that converts 240V to 9V instead of the US supply that converts 110V to 9v

yes, no?

Sorry, I missed the part about external power supply...oops.

Yeah, your solution is sounding more and more like a good idea.

quick bounce

Anyone else with any thoughts on this one, thanks

Alec
