Hi,

I've recently been given a pair of these, but I've had difficulty finding out anything about them via search engines.

Has anyone ever used these? These are pretty old...erm...vintage, and I am going to have to replace the plugs, as these are smaller than standard contemporary mixer inputs.

Feedback is 'preciated!

Thanks,

MK.

:)

uher m534 .who what how?

would like to know anything about these mics ,what are they similar to? has anybody out there had recording experience with them ,they seem to be nice quality heavy old vintage german mics ,i´m recording loud rock music and would like to know how i can use them

Don't know anything about these mics, but MK-Ultra was a great band. Can't wait for the new Vanderslice album.

The only thing I remember about Uher is that they were fairly good quality portable tape machine makers, so I assume their microphones were designed for that purpose. I don't think they were meant for "music" recording, so to speak, as that's not what their machines were designed for. Not to say people didn't use them for music, just not professionally. Considering you already have these - and for the price - you may find a use for them sometime, but don't expect much. They're probably not balanced either. I wouldn't by any means consider them to be a go-to mic. I don't think the company's been around since the 70's or so. Just my .02 - I could be totally off base.

Yeah,

I used a pair of these mics a long time ago in a stereo configuration with a Uher 561 reel to reel. The imaging was great but I used them for more ambient recording. I tried them a couple of times recording our garage band but, since I was the drummer, didn't really have the hands to stive for results. There was a unique wiring configuration for them. I'll see if I can dig up the diagrams. They may be in my folks garage some place.

I just found 2 Uher M534's with the stereo X-Y stand in my basement in a box. I soldered some new Neutrik XLR connectors on them since they previously had 3-pin DIN connectors. They sound quite good! Especially for acoustic pianos!
