I hope I just need to do a head cleaning. This deck works fantastic, I also have a Porta02 Tascam. I recently purchased a new mixer a Yamaha MG 16/6fx which I am happy with.
So now I am off to the races and finally getting things done. I usually use a cleaning cassette for cleaning heads. I am getting little sporadic pops even with a blank tape in playback mode. Im 99% sure it just needs a good cleaning. I have never cleaned the pinch roller, but a friend is dropping off some rubber cleaning compound, and I am going to clean per the manual. He is also bringing a demagnitizing wand which has never been done with this unit.
Any cleaning advice out there? This 424mkIII is totally unique. I bought it brand new from GC about 11 years ago, used it once, had major back surgery and put it back in the shipping box. For all practical purposes it is a brand new 11 year old unit.
This is pretty much the first major cleaning as I probably have less then 10 hours on this thing. As far as I am concerned, the playback of material recorded on this unit blows my mind. I want to REALLY take good care of this thing.
So if any 424 gurus out there have any cleaning tips for me, I would really appreciate it.
thanks all.........
