I move my tracks to a new CD and I'm getting loud garbage noise at the beginning of each track. What's wrong? This doesn't always happen, but I need to know what I'm doing wrong so I can avoid this problem.

Hello Scott. Welcome to the forum.

Is this happening when you burn CD's or is this happening in Cool Edit/Audition?

What do you mean by "moving tracks to a new CD"...? Where are you moving them from?

I create my tracks in Cool Edit and save the mix as a .wav file on my harddrive. Later, outside of Cool Edit, I drag and drop the .wav files to a CD using Adaptec's CD Creator - and...sometimes it goes well, and sometimes it doesn't - sometimes I get this really loud "white-noise" type blaring/grinding blotch of bad sound at the very beginning of each track

I used to have that problem with Cool Edit myself, a couple years back.

What it was, is an error in the temp file is being placed in one of the tracks in the multitrack session. When you mix down, it's added to the track. Dump your temp files folder, and save the session over.

I was never able to completely fix it, until I upgraded to Audition. I've been fine ever since.

Maybe someone else knows something I don't.

Another way of dealing with it is to use a different program to burn your CDs. When CEP came out with the CD burning, a lot of people reported problems. I never used it, as a result. I use Nero or CD Architect, depending on what computer I'm burning from.
