I'm thinking about adding a FlexiPak to pair up with my single UAD-1 card. One thing that concerns me is heat.
My computer fans have pots to turn them down to decrease noise. I'm a little concerned about turning them up to dissipate more heat. Should I worry about this?

If you have spare slots and can space out the cards, I wouldn't worry too much. The cards don't run too hot when idle, and you should be able to turn up the fans when you are doing mixes.

Incidentially I lost some respect for UA when I read this bit in their last newsletter:

Employee Feature: Senior Software Engineer Scott Cooper

What are your hobbies?

I play the guitar, cook, and play video games. I also like to play tennis and Frisbee, and I want to get back into surfing, which I had to stop doing because I was living in landlocked North Carolina.

Well, it's a good thing UA doesn't write plugs for Mapquest :p
