Two versions, both bad in my opinion

Can you guys give me some insight on these two tracks? I've been working on them for a quite a while, and I (much like u2) still haven't really found what I am looking for. My mix still seems bad to me.

12 below mix 4 is closer to what I want the tune to actually sound like (musically). 12 below mix 4.2 is changing the guitar part to try to make the track fuller...didn't really work. I'm still tweaking eq, I just can't seem to get it right though.

Any comments, critique, or advice is appreciated,Here's a link:

Is this you doing all the tracks, or multiple players and you are producing?

Its betamonkey drum loops. I'm doing all the guitars, wrote the bass line (although its being played by someone much better than me) and another guy doing the piano part.

I don't wish for you to hate me, but honesty is what you ask for. Too much simulation. A lot of posters do it here, but it is using computer audiomation too much. Cool that you can do that, but concentrate on your playing and writing would be my humble advice. Some good ideas hiding in there, but focue on your roots, not what the box can do. Us old-timers may give advice from time to time like this, but it is an important step in music, though one we would all wish away if we could. I liked your passage, don't get me wrong, just need to explore your playing and writing more imho. :)

No hate whatsoever! Thanks.

Although, could you clarify your opinion for me? I'm not quite sure I understand what you are telling me? Too much simulation...are you talking about virtual amps? Sorry...just don't understand the advice.

Thanks,

Any other opinions here? Can't get better without feedback.
