Hi Altruist,

A spectrograph is a device (hardware or software) that
can associate specific audio pitches with different colors
of the spectrum, so you can visually inspect a stereo
waveform for problem areas related to frequency.

A vocoder is an effect (hardware or software) you apply
to an audio signal to creat a robot-like effect.

Hope that helps!

To expand on the Vocoder:

As I understand it (keep in mind I have never used one, but have heard them plenty) it allows you to give a human voice influance to an instrument. You talk into the Vocoder and it is processed through an instrument with the result being a kind of "robotic" flavor that was mentioned before. You can make out some/most of the words being said depending on the settings. It's a pretty trippy effect.

Spectrograph sounds interesting...I have no idea how to use it or what to use it in conjunction with...Sounds kinda important...

Vocoder sounds like fun...I might mess with it a bit tonight...

Thanks alot guys

Geoff
