Ok guys. First off, here is a cover of a Cash song called Folsum Prison Blues. I have been trying to get my dad to sing and play for a while, and he did after a really long wait. Here you go.

On a serious (or more serious) note, here is about a 40 second vocal harmony that I did about an issue that my best friend faced a while back, that struck me hard as well. Not directly, but it made me feel really bad. It it called Christmas Never Came.

I would love your thoughts. Thanks.

In response to the Cash cover: Like the recording, just maybe tone down a bit on the compression - maybe you should just adjust the threshhold on the compressors to get it to sound smoother.

Great vox on the other clip you could maybe sell it to Disney.

I don't know about Disney. The subject matter is a bit dark.

Cool...a double feature!

Great tune to cover. Your dad's voice is obviously a lot higher than cash's, but most people's are. He did a really good job on this. The music sounds pretty authentic - I was pleasantly surprised by the accurate little solo riff. I figured you or he would skip that or modernize it, but it is really an indelible part of this tune I think.

I dig the brush sound on the drums (I think they're brushes?) but it also has a peculiar sharpness to it unlike what I'd expect from brushes. Anyway, a cool retro rhythm section. Bass has a nice prison cafeteria kind of thump to it. Makes me want to bang my silverware and demand more free time in the yard. :p

The vocal piece is nicely done. Appropriately melancholy. Obviously quite short...not sure if this is a precursor for something else or is this it?

You know, disney does dark...didn't bambi die?

Christmas - it's a good piece - nicely structured harmonies.
My only quibble is that "never" has become impotent due to it's misuse. It used to mean "not ever" - now it's generally means "didn't".
Folsum is pretty cool except for the the 1st 8 seconds being quite disconnected from the rest - the intro of drums & bass really separates them.
