Steve

listened to hand Jive.....Maybe a touch more ear candy....I know you probably don't want alot but I think it needs a tad...........VOX at the beginning was a touch low but was better later....I personally want to hear what you are saying at least most of the time.....Some phrases i couldn't make out what was said...And i liked the melody

A couple of drum fills here and there wouldn't hurt at all.....

LOTS OF ENERGY

Wish I could keep tunes that short...........I"M ALWAYS OVER 4 MINUTES

Good tune

Thanks for the input.

Smaltonian, what do you mean "ear candy"?
I too would like more drum fills. :D Unfortunately, I'm not a drummer, and previous experience has taught me to be conservative with my drum machines.

Ciro, I see what you mean about high frequencies (in everything I've recorded lately, really). I need to get myself some real studio monitors; my mixes sound much better on my Crate stage monitors!

Ok just listened to Hand Jive. Seems to me the vocals don't sit in the mix real well. Maybe if you tried to EQ down the electric guitar tracks in the 2-4 kHz-ish range the vocals might find their place. Just scoop out a little notch for the vocals to sit in. They are a bit hard to understand and they sound to me like they're just sitting on top of the guitars, rather than mixed in with them.
Maybe cut the electric a little around 800 Hz as well might help.

I listened to Skarr. I liked the feel of the song. For some reason it reminded me of T Rex. Probably due to the lead singer's voice - there's a similarity there.

I'd take the stereo stuff or doubled lead vocals and keep everything down the center. There is a lack of clarity in the lead vox. A boost around 5K might provide some help. But I suspect that the tracking can improve.

I think the band can get a tighter take. The guits/bass/drums aren't always tight.

The guitars sound muffled. I might suggest dialing in a little less gain/bass and a little more treble when tracking.

The snare has that "paper grocery bag" sound to it. The snare for this type of music is critical to its power. There's not enough "umph" to it.

The background vox could probably be boosted 2-3dbs. Ditto for the little lead thing at 1:17.

Thanks for the input.

The drums are sampled here, is there any way I can improve the snare tone without re-tracking?
