Hey everyone. Here are two songs that I have started mixing. I was wondering if you could give me your opinions and suggestions on the mixes.

Hope you all had a wonderful Holiday. Thanks for your time!

any encouraging words, or hateful ones? constructive things? Anything from anyone?

Thanks!

I listened to the first one - sounds pretty good. Only thing I didn't like was the guitar and the singer sounded like they were in two totally different "spaces", and the guitar sounded like it was in the back of a big room.

Overall, sounds good tho.

Good songs. Perhaps the vocal on the second song was "trying too hard" to get that emo feel. It just sounded a little whiny to me. Overall, the mix sounds a little left heavy, but I can't verify that. Guitar sound is not the best (as NL5 noted), but suits the songs. Keep it up.

Yeah, I like the acoustic sound, actually...but even without seeing the wave file on this, I'm betting that it has some pretty huge spikes where the vocal pops out. It's a great vocal (first tune). Either verb the vocal more or (preferred) take some off the guitar. Some overall compression on the bus wouldn't hurt either...the vocal gets pretty loud during the chorus

when I mixed this, I had the guitar recorded with two mics. I duplicated both of these mono tracks and then panned the first two hard left and the second two hard right. Then I offset one of them by like 2 miliseconds or something. Then I have some verb, compression, etc on it. The vocals are doubled as well. One has just a touch of verb and the other has lots of verb on it but is turned down really low. That's a rough description of how I did everything without actually having the project open in front of me. Thanks for all the comments everyone. How would you suggest I fix the problem of the guitar and vocals sounding like they're in two diff spaces? Anyone else have some suggestions?

Thanks again everyone!

Great vocals. 1st song, the git is weak. Maybe some compression there and some reverb to the overall song to fix the 2 separate rooms thing.

2nd song, maybe more instruments. The git is so simple. Maybe some simple percussion?

make the reverbs sound the same, bring the guitar up, and compress the vocal.

I agree with the space comments and would say throw a little compression on the vox. Sounds nice otherwise. I like the acoustic sound otherwise.

I'm somewhat of a compression newb. What settings for the compression should I try. A range would be fine :) Thanks for all the help everyone!
