The Pie Guy
Two In One.........

I had two real shitty tunes....

so...I combined them to try to make one half lame tune....

Two In One ............at NoWhere Radio..........

or at Soundclick..........

Taylor 314CE mic-ed with a Rode NT1 into a 1402VLZ Pro Mackie Board into my Audigy Platinum card...

Epiphone Les Paul into a Line6 POD into the Mackie into the Audigy...

SX P-Bass into the Mackie into the soundcard...

Drums are loops I created from my Yamaha DGX 202 keyboard..into the mackie form the headphone plug...

Tracked and edited in Cool Edit Pro..

it's a rocker fellas....not my usual Mew-zack...
Bass seems weak to me....
I tracked this morning so I probably shouldn't mix and post but, it don't sound half bad...

Joe

Hey Joe,

I got an error when I tried to play this, just though I'd let you know.

I was able to download the song

I think you have a nice acoustic groove going and the bass parts were good. The tone on the solo guitar wasn't my favorite thing but here is where remarks on others music and personal taste gets kind of sticky. Neil Young always used a solo guitar tone that I didn't care for but he has had some success. Thanks for the listen.

lynx...
Thanks for trying man....it worked on both sites for me...thanks ..

Ismellelephant...
Thanks for checking it out man....I do like Neil Young...
I got a question for you though....but I will put it on your thread....
Thanks again,
Joe

Listening on headphones -- sometimes putting two songs together that have nothing to do with each other can work out really well (re: Beatles A Day In The Life, for instance)

Okay, listening now. Sounds good. The drums might come up just a tad, and the low-end seems to be dominating the mix just a tad. Also, the lead, since that seems to be taking the place of the vocal here, may come up in the mix as well to make it a bit more prominent.

I'm trying to figure out where the two songs are joined...You did a good job of weaving them together because I can't tell that it is two songs.

Nice playing overall. Maybe it could be just a tad tighter all around, but otherwise very nice.

Okay, where is that accordian? :D

Good job! :D

nice groove.. first thing I noticed was the drums sound a lot better than your previous stuff.. second thing was the incredibly boomy bass sound.. it's dominating at times.. I can't immediately hear where one song starts and the other ends.. that's cool.. although it sounds very similar all the way through.. there are no major changes.. it could use something.. good jam.. could use some tightening and a definite look at the boom situation..

Thanks for checking it out man....
The two tunes have the same root...so...it just worked out....What I really did was to add a descending progression from one tune to the other...it added a bit more dynamics to the tune...changed the tempo and arrangement too...

I re-mixed and lowered the bass...the drums should sit better now...I also removed about half of the lead guit...to create more room for vocals...and an accordian :D
Thanks again man...

Hey Sam,
Thanks man...I have been working on the drum thing since my last debacle of hip hop drums with metal guits.....oy-vay....

I addressed the boom but, I will have to re-track for the tightening...bad timing is one of my shortcomings...I am working on it though....
Thanks for lending your ears man...I appreciate it...

Thanks again fellas....new mix is up at both sites..
Joe

Hey, this is cool. I think my main complaint would be that the drums don't change dynamically throughout the tune. This is something I've been really watching with my own stuff lately, and I'm noticing it a lot. If you can vary the volume of the drums in spots, even just a little bit, it helps it breath a lot more. But other than that this sounds cool. I'd like to hear some vox of course.

And I like the lead tone. So there.:D

Chris

Very 60's sounding........Incense and Peppermints guitar....
worth fooling with......it sounds unfinished at this point.
Drums sound pretty good.....the bass is hmmmmm.....I'm not sure but something sounds odd about the bass........short scale neck maybe?
Interesting......I'd like a vocal with a bunch of 60's effects....flanging....echo....the whole works................The Electric Prunes revisited!

Groucho,
Hey man, Glad you liked it..I am gonna add some more fills on the drums in a couple of spots and see what happens...
I am writing lyrics for it but, I don't sing...so...we shall see what happens...it really sucks not being able to sing your own tunes....ya know?

Thanks again man..

LT!
Thanks for checking this one out man...
The bass is a full size P-Bass copy...I think what you hear is a guy who doesn't have a clue as to how to play it...ya know? :D
The Electric Prunes?? LMFAO... :D
Cool man...perhaps one day there willl be a vocal for this but, I am not gonna hold my breath...

Thanks again Lt....
Be well my friend,
Joe

EDIT: I spent about an hour on this after posting...
I added more fills on the drums and stretched it to 104 ratio in Cool Edit to tighten it up...I know..I know...cheating :D
I also rolled the lows off the bass again...maybe too much...

Soundclick is down at the moment but the new mix (#3) is up at No Where Radio....Two in One...
Thanks again fellas...

Hey Joe, I was gonna tell you I listened to this earlier when I retrieved your demo track, but forgot to tell you. Very nice tunz. I really like the guitars. And your drum track is a lot better than mine, LOL. I'll be sending sumpin your way in a day or two.

Dan

Joe!
Drums sound pretty good on this. I like the drum intro. I think you have the makings of something cool here. I look forward to the finished piece. I certainly don't hear where this was two songs before. That's pretty wild.

There are still low end problems. A little muddy. I am not sure where the problem lies. I think some of the muddiness might be do to some overall timing issues. Things just seem a little out. And a little out can sound worse in that it is hard to figure out what the problem is. I think the bass line was cool from what I could hear. Guitars sounded good although I think I was hearing the pick on the strings throughout which almost sounded like distortion. One last thing, I thing a few changes would help. That may develop with the vocal melody, lyrics, etc.

Wipe this baby clean and let's hear it again with some vox! :D

Todd

Dan Thanks man......

Todd Hey man...I hear ya on the timing thing.......
My timing sucks but, I am getting a little better at it....
I am gonna re-track and I am in the midst of writing a lyric for this one........Man...I wish I could sing...ya know?

Thanks for checkin' it out fellas,
Joe

EDIT......... couldn't resist one more mix...back to the old tempo with some verb added to the lead.....tamed the bass a bit too...

wasssapp joro,
Cool tune here man. ...just screaming for some big csny type'a harmony vocs. Very cool tune here! The low end needs a little supm supm..... a little tighter tone on the bass might clean up alot of the mud, and get it off of the acoustics. I hear what youre going for....cause that biiiig round P-bass sound "does" sound great in this tune..... ....It just needs some of the fuzzies cleaned off of it.:D ....where's a clean Fender Bassman when you need one.:) Otherwise..... I dig this!! ...looking forward to hearing this with vocals.

Hi Guernica,
Hopefully one day there will be a vox track for this...

I will heed your advice on the bass when I re-track....thanks man,
Take it easy,
Joe

Hey Joro,

Some potential there, but considering it's unfinished state it seems like a good place to be at this point. I agree with a little boominess on the bottom. Sometimes i think the mix gets a little soupy, how many instruments are you tracking into this? I'm just thinking there has to be a way to take each of the tracks and somehow eq them so they "cut" a little bit more. The drums sound real good.

I kept waiting for the lyrics to start and finally realized that nobody has an intro this long! lol. Good tunage Joe, get some lyrics written for that bad boy.

Hey man, Thanks for checking it out and for the EQ advice...
I will definitely try and make each instrument stand out on it's own when I retrack...
So far there is a thumbs up on the drums so that is very cool...
Gonna retrack sooooon :D
Thanks again man..

BD!
Hey Buddy, Thanks for checking it out and yeah...lyrics are coming soon as well...I just finished writing a lyric for DTB so, this one is next.....
The big challenge will be finding a singer willing to do it...ya know?

Thanks again my friend,

Joe

BAH!!! I'm way behind  I downloaded several songs last week and haven't been able to get around to listening until now.

Sounds like a nice start something to something here Joe. Listening on cans at work, so I'm sure I'm not gonna add anything more helpful on the mix side compared to what has already been tendered.

I will be anxious to see what this develops into.

Nice work.
