OK, i have 2 80GB hard drives that are both empty, and i'm about to install windows on my "new" PC. one of the hard drives is an older 5400RPM WD Caviar 80GB, and the new one is a 7400RPM WD Caviar 80GB. i', assuming i should use the older one to install windows and all my programs and keep the faster one dedicated to my music files. my question is about partitioning. when installing windows, it asks me if i want to partition, and if so what size. so how should i go about partitioning the first 80GB HD? should i keep one partition for windows by itself, and then put all the rest of my programs and non-music files on the other part of the drive? how big should the windows partition be?
and as for the faster drive which i plan to use for music, should i even partition this at all? or should i just leave it how it is? the proper procedure would be to have all my audio programs, plugins, etc on the first drive, and then leave my 2nd drive strictly for recorded WAV files right? or would i install all music related stuff on the 2nd hard drive? where would be best to save the actual project files that contain the mix?
i tried a quick search but couldnt quite come up with what i was looking for, so hopefully someone can give me a really quick answer here so i can get this thing started. thanks!
