Two doors at the back end of the room?

My studio is an 8 ft. x 9 ft. room with an 8 ft. ceiling. There's a closet door on the back wall next to the left rear corner, and a door to the hallway on the righthand wall next to the right rear corner. I can't put reasonably deep corner traps back there because they would block the doors. I'm considering two different approaches I read about in Paul White's Basic Home Studio Design.

The first approach would be to do a "dead end / live end" setup that would leave the back of the room untreated.

The second approach would be to place an 8 inch deep resonant dampener in the middle of the back wall and hope the corners aren't that big of a problem.

In either case, there would be corner traps behind the monitors and a cloud and absorber panels on either side of the sweet spot. With the "dead end / live end" approach, I would put additional panels towards the dead end, or front of the room. Recommendations?

Your 8" deep resonant dampener has me curious. What did you have in mind? Also remember the wall/ceiling corner is just as legit a space to treat as a wall/wall corner. You could probably fit some type of superchunk over the doorways.

Those are really tough dimensions, bro. It's almost a cube. I'm not sure you have any legitimate "ends" to make live or dead. I'd say just treat the shit out of it.

The dampener is an 8" deep box with studs, sort of like a mini-wall tacked onto the real wall. It's filled with rock wool (is that the British term for Fiberglas?) and has a limp, flexible covering. The idea is to expend bass energy trying to make the covering vibrate. The author said the covering was a "specialized" material but didn't say what it's made of or how thick. He called it "barrier mat", if that means anything to you.

Superchunks over the doors would be rather small. I'm not sure they would be effective enough to bother.

Just open those doors right up and you'll not have a need for any traps!

Just brick up your side of the house and put a new mail box out on the side walk. :D

Just open those doors right up and you'll not have a need for any traps -taht will work if you don't have noise out site
and don't mind noise comimg out. David

Anyone know what this "barrier mat" stuff is? I'm guessing it's like a pond liner or something.

Mass Loaded Vinyl probably. More for isolation than treatment I think.
