two amps one board?

I am curious if anyone runs two amps through one multi fx board (i.e. boss gt10 or whatever) but uses the effects loops of both amps? I figure it's do-able with three A/B swith pedals but I wonder if there's an easier way. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

If the board has discrete stereo inputs, you could run one amp through each half of the multi-effects unit. Personally, I'd either just run the the unit in front of both amps, or I'd use the preamp from one of them and just use the second amp for it's power amp. If it takes three A/B boxes, it's really way too complex for stage, if you ask me.

Good GOD, that WOULD be a complicated stage setup, wouldn't it? I can not even imagine how you would run cables for all those six pieces of gear you would set on the floor (seven if you count the guitar.) Hard, too, to imagine a real need for that setup- if you are playing out somewhere where you need to be that quiet, you probably should not be playing there at all.

i sort of do this with a pair of laney AOR halfstacks. i use the preamp of the sweeter of the pair, "send" to a tc electronics M-300 processor, then the L & R outputs from that into the "returns" of the two amps. in effect, the second amp is a slave. i set the preamp up like i like it, then control the overall level on the processor--- in essence, a master volume. works and sounds great!

the single only problem with that set up is that any gain-based effects (compression, distortion, etc) are *after* the preamp, which sounds like caca a large percentage of the time.
