Twisted State of Mind

Guitars sound great - the distorted guits and the clean guy over on the right--very cool. The vocals--WOW! for me, these are among your best. I think the bass could use some more meat. I like the tight, percussive feel, but would love to hear some more bottom end on it too.

Overall the mix is great--it's tight but everything has it's own space.

I just have to come back to the vocals (yes, I'm typing as I listen): they're really impressive. The doubled (or is it more) lines are really tight, and the choruses are just right on.

Killer stuff, man.

It's been suggested that my mind is perpetually in a twisted state.
Wow, that intro vocal & harmony is cool.
Big changes from verse bridge/chorus - works beautifully.
The bass in the verse is terrific.
Then again it's cool in the chorus too.
I'm listening with h/phones so I can't hear the bottom end issues referred to by WS.
Nice levels between the toms & snare.
that's an ace outro too.
I'll have to listen again to comment further - so far so WOW.

Holy shit dude, that's awesome. :)

No nits from me. Love the bass.

Nice job dude. I like the chorus alot. It reminds me of Alice Cooper...i don't know why. Nice job.

Another hit from the Rami studios! Very well arranged vocal sections. Each one gives it own texture to the song. No nits on the mix, everthing seems to gel nicely.

Great going here, Rami...really good!
Very well balanced and the voice and backings are wonderful. It takes good songwriting for a good song and you nailed it right here. But the arrangement is tops too. I felt the guitar licks and the vocals on the chorus could come forward a bit more. But really I think that's just my taste. Bass has beautiful definition, but some low end wouldn't hurt it.
Great stuff! :D:D

Cheers

Whitestrat, Ray, Greg, Analyical Man, Ido, Joey.

Thanx alot for the comments. Upon listening again this morning, there are a few things I need to change, one being fattening up the bass, as mentioned. I appreciate the comments alot.

Tahnx.

RAMI!!!
Is this link still alive?

EDIT,
It works! I'll post my comment later.

OK It's me again.
What else to say. Very good (as always)!
The bass is actually just perfect. It sounds a little tiny but I think It should stay that way.
Voices in chorus are so perfectly done. They remind me about The Scorpions (again).

Great intro!!!!!!!!!

Vocals are impeccable as always. Man, you sure have a way with structuring a song vocally! I'd sure like to know how you approach the recording/mix when you come to your backing vocals.

At first I thought that the bass might be ok EXCEPT when it's really prominent. But after listening further, I have to agree that it's just too thin.

Solo tone is GREAT! Nice licks there, drummer boy!!!

Love the outro man. That's awesome tone and nice use of effects.

Freaking GREAT job, Duder!

Thanx alot Sikter and 7,

I have to agree about the bass. It probably would be OK if the kik wasn't so thick. And I don't want to tone down the kik for the bass's sake.

The intro and outro parts (and bridges) were done by playing my step-daughters violin bow on my Strat. I then flanged the hell out of it and reversed it for the intro, and left it un-reversed for the all the other times it's there. I'll do ANYTHING before using a synth. :D :D :D

I re listened & like it even more on 2nd listen.
I'll be downloading if I can as the next RAMI album is probably a few months away.

161 views and only 14 replies. Boo hoo!!! Boo hoo!!!!

(just kidding). :D :D :D

That one landed where you wanted it to. When you get 10% replies to views, that's the ratio you should shoot for. When you get 0%, I think you have the right to wonder why. Carry on without me.:p

Your work has gotten a lot better in the three years I've been listening to it starting way back at TASCAM Forums. Your vocal effects are very tight without getting to overproduced. That's a very fine line that you walk well.

I remember a post you did years ago saying how difficult you found playing open chords to be on the guitar and that you were primarily a drummer.

Now you're using a violin bow to play your guitars. What's next Jimi, your teeth?

But seriously, you've come a long way, not that you really care what I think.

Wig:)

Thanx buddy. Just so you know, besides a little reverb and/or delay (well, in this song maybe more than a little in the verses), I don't put any effects on my vocals. Thanx for the encouragement on the guitar playing.

10% response to view is a good ratio. It's probably a lot higher because we all keep poking our noses into the thread to see if we can pick up any of your secrets. ;)

I guess this is more a Songwriting Forum question but I'd like to ask how you're arranging your vocals. Do you figure out intervals on guitar?
