Is this card, residing in my HP pavilion a422n, good enough to do some home recording with, until I can resurrect my dead beige G3 Power Mac (that has an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 card in it)? Or should I wait until I've gotten around to finishing building my home brewed Wintel box, and my Mac is alive again?

im gonna catch flak 4 this, but i use it, and i luv it. presets are nice for recording from many sources. it even has a versajack, which i like, and it handles surround sound, which i don't use, but if i could i would. the only bad thing is that the drums on the internal synth pan automatically, so u have to re-adjust all the pans on the drums if u wanna do it urself. other than that, im satisfied, but then again, i just started recording last year.

I have this card, but I would only use it for gaming (for which it works very well).

That said, it would work for audio I guess, and Turtle Beach does make very good quality consumer grade components.
For recording? I don't know, just seems a joke to me. My opinion, and your mileage may vary.

I would just move the MAudio card to the wintel box and be done with it.

So, when I do get around to finishing my home brewed Wintel box, I'll either get an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 card, or up to the next price plateau, for M-Audio cards, and get the better, $130 (which is what I'd paid for my Audiophile 2496, several years ago), Delta card. My HP will be for playing, and the coming home brewed will be for working. Guess I'll hafta wait until I've finished my home brewed PC beore I can get into home recording, huh? Oh well.

Thanks for the input!

take the m-audio card out of the mac and put it in your hp. Why wait around and let it sit in a dead computer when you can use it right now. When you get whatever machine you want to use for your recording projects up and running, put it in that one, unless you are planning on getting a better card.
