Im like the others I’d like to start transferring all of my old LPs onto CDs and realize that I know very little about turntables.I have a new XL-100 from Gemini(www.garage-a-records.com) and that’s all I have. . I do not know how to get sound from it so as to play my records. Do I need a amplifier? and if so whit type? Or do I need some other equipment so I can get it up and and runing. HELP

If you JUST have the turntable, there is really nothing you can do with it unless you have a DJ mixer or an amplifier with a phono input to distribute the sound.

1)You can get a cheap two channel mixer that provides good sound quality like a vestax PMC something or a American DJ mixer that would go for about $70. Actually, any kind of mixer with a phono input should do.

2)You could also use an stero amplifier with phono inputs (like a sony, panasonic or whatever). Any one should be fine, as long as it has "PHONO INPUTS" and RCA outputs.

So...connect the phono lines of the Gemini to the phono inputs to one of the 2 mention above. Then take the "LINE" outputs of (one of the above) and run a cable it to the back of your sound card's input. Now.....it all depends on the sound card you have. Some sound cards like the cheap ones you get with your CPU have one 1/8 input. In that case you need to run to radio shack and get a " RCA stero to a 1/8" converter cable. If your sound card has two RCA inputs already, then no problem. Use the standard RCA cables.

One all that, just go to the volume control thing that you have in your CPU and make sure the "LINE INPUT" is on and the volume is up.....and that's it.
