turning program changes OFF in Sonar?

Is there a universal way to turn all program changes off? I have a bunch of midi files that have a zillion program changes. Is there a way to tell Sonar to ignore all program changes, or do I have to go to the event list?

What's the deal with the SONAR tempo map? It never seems to hold the changes i.e. If I record to audio, EVENTUALLY the tempo map will get way off. This has happened in every Cakewalk product I have owned. My classical stuff has tempo changes constantly and it just never "sticks". Any suggestions, Sonar brethren?

I think the MIDI Event Filter plugin that comes with Sonar might be what you need. Try adding the filter to the effects bin on the MIDI track, and selecing all events EXCEPT the patch/program changes.

(Sorry, I don't use tempo maps, so I can't help you on the other thing.)

Yes, there is a filter, but I believe that filter what gets recorded, and may not affect what's already there.

That said, there is a plugin that will allow you to strip whatever type/class of midi messages you want from the gtrack. I am not at home right now, so I cannot look it up, but I recall that it's there.

I hear ya on this one. Anytime I make a tempo change, it messed up the tempos behind it. It takes forever to manually go in a correct them all the time.

Whenever you say "Insert new tempo here" it will change the previous tempo as well, but not necessarily....it's really screwy.

Filtering is very easy in Sonar. Select the clip and while it is selected select the filter dialog and choose your settings. Then either copy or delete, depending on what you wish to accomplish, and you're all set. I use this feature a lot on midi data that is already recorded.
