Can someone explain to me what these do? My thinking is that if I use one I'll be able to turn on and off multiple effects using multiple stomp boxes with one foot movement. Am I correct? Could you also tell me the usefullness of a product like this. thanks

When talking about Effects Pedals "True Bypass" usually means that it uses a Double Pole Mechanical Switch (as opposed to a Electrical switch useing a transistor) to bypass the Circuit when the Pedal is in the Off Position....With true Bypass you get a cleaner sound when the pedal isn"t on because there is no Bypass circuitry for the signal to go through......

There is also a Non-True bypass switching that uses a single pole Mechanical switch but I have never seen it in a newer pedal.....

This will explain some of it:

and this the rest of it:

Hope this helps??

a true bypass loop pedal does just what you suggested, in the manner that Minion posted.

People commonly use them for three reasons:
1) to keep the signal "pure" from pedals that do not have "true bypass" when the pedal is not turned on.

2) to keep the on/on switches in close proximity if you have a large board with alot of effects

3) to chain more than one effect into one switch. (Example would be a compressor and delay from two seprate effect pedals that you want on and off at the exact same time whenever you rip a lead)
