Do it right or dont do it
Hi there, I play guitar in a death metal band. I'm actually using a tube Peavey combo to practice alone and a rented Marshall head with a 4x12 stack when I practice with the band.

I was thinking of buying separate parts to make my "head" : A tube preamp and a power amp instead of the classic head. Some people say this is frequently used in recording studios. What do you guys think about it? Anyone have experience working with separate components? Thanks.

i would assume thats what he meant. i dont know what your budget is. i'd get a mesa boogie TRIAXIS and a mesa tube power amp +cab. thatll give you a bunch of mesa tones in one.

Whoa! That looks... digital? I assume that thing is an amp modeler, right? I think the best approach is the one you gave me in another threat concerning pre issues.

I have a Carvin Quad-X and T100. More tubes than I can keep track of.
