Tube MP vs Behringer

I'm about to buy a mic preamp for my home studio. I'm considering the ART Tube MP, or possibly to get a Behringer mixer. It's not the same thing, I know, but they are similarily priced. My first thought is that the Tube MP should be the better, just a single channel for the money, but then I've heard good things about the Behringer mixers, and I guess I'll need more channers in the future. Is the Behringer preamp so inferior that I should absolutely go with the Tube MP for my microphone (Rode NT-1)?

For the money try the Presonus Blue Tube ($149 if you don't get a deal, I paid $129 at SamAsh). You get better quality and warmer sound and more versatility and (!) you get 2 channels. Consider it (but don't quote me, do your homework first). When you need "more channels" later, you'll buy a mixer then, with as many channels as you need then. You'll still use your tube preamp in front of it. I had the Tube MP and I sold it in favor of the Blue Tube (and I have another one on order, cuz I need 4 channels). Izz nice.

The PreSonus BlueTube works well for me and having two channels is the way to go if you are recording with multiple mics or recording keyboards DI. The ART Tube MP gets thumbs ups from most users but they use wall wart adapters( so does the BlueTube) and I hate having a lot of those hum-inducing things in my studio. Buying a Behringer mixer for the pre-amps sounds like it would make sense because you get the pre's and aux send and returns, inserts and in the future you can always use it as a submixer. Having a tube colors the sound in a subtle way. I'd love to hear from people with solid state and tube pre-amps in their studios and when and why they use one over another.

But the Blue Tube lets you "to color or not to color" - depending on whether or not you crank the "Drive" knob :)

I would have to agree about the Blue Tube. I checked it out today and it seems like a better deal then the art. I would like to hear the behringer stereo pre, I think its called the ultragain pro mic2200. It is about $190US but I have yet to talk with anyone who has used one. ;)
