Hallo,

i have a T.bone SCT-700 tube mic, which includes a 10m long XLR 7 pin cable between mic and the external power supply.

I need a shorter replacement cable, so I ordered male/female Neutrik XLR 7 pin plugs and a special 7 wired cable for tube micros:
SOMMER CABLE - SC-OCTAVE TUBE

This cable contains "2 wires for power input and the remaining ones for parameter-variable directivity, sensing (measuring), heating, and power for the tube capsule."

Is there a standard pin assignment for the different couloured wires and functions for tube mics like the SCT 700?

Thanks in advance! :)

Hi,

now I searched here and found 3 old threads about 7 pint ube mic cable.

Unfortunately nobody posted a XLR 7 pin assignment.

My orginal cabel is:
Pin1: red
Pin2: yellow
Pin3: blue
Pin4: white
Pin5: black
Pin6: green
Pin7: violet linked to ground connection

My new Sommercable "SC-OCTAVE TUBE" has 2 x 0.5 mm2 (AWG26) wires for power input, that are couloured green and blue.

And 5 x 0.14 mm2 (AWG21) wires (red, violet, white, orange and black).

My question is now:
Are the wires, coloured green and blue, always associated with power input of a tube mic?

Hi,

now I measured the voltage from all 7 pins myself.

Pin 1 has 148 V DC
Pin 2 has 6,71 V DC
Pin 3 - 7 hasn`t any voltage.
Pin 7 is connected to ground.

Now I connected the 2 x 0.5 mm2 (AWG26) wires to pin 1 & 2.

Hope it helps some other users here which don't like the orginal 10m long cable.
My new 3m Sommercable with Neutrik plugs works fine now ! :)
