Hi guys

Here's what I have in mind UA M610 Pre or Mxl V67 mic or Sp Tp3.mic.
I already have a Sp C1, At 3050, Sp B1.
This will be used for vox only.

Lee.

P.s I am leaning towards the Ua M610 Pre.

I would be tempted by either an SP T3 or an AT4050 ... both are REALLY good mics and will suit a lot of voices. AT4050 is more 'transparent' and will sound good on just about any *good* source. The T3 is a bit more ... well ... tubey. I haven't found a vocalist it doesn't suit yet, but it is a touch brighter than the AT4050. If you like your C1, you'll LOVE the T3 ...

If I could have a pair of AT4050s and a T3 I think I'd be sorted for LDCs generally ... but sadly the wallet is thin. :)

I think that with the DMP3 and the RNP that you have a couple of decent preamps and you need to update your mic. Get something of good quality and that is versatile...something that you wouldn't sell even if you upgraded to really nice mics later.

My suggestions are AT4040, AT4047, AT4050, Shure KSM27, KSM32, KSM44, or a Groove Tubes GT50 or GT57.

If you do want to upgrade your pre's, go with something like the GT Brick for a different flavor, or for a higher end unit either the Avalon M5 (1 channel) or GT Supre (2 channels), maybe Presonus ADL600 or API 3124 if you can swing a couple thousand.

Hey, I was wondering how the RNP and DMP3 compare, and you have both. What can you tell me about them?!!

Junplugged

I like both of these Pre's
But when it comes to stacking tracks 1on top of the other, the Rnp is my go to Pre everytime.
Great clear sound.

Anyway back to my original reqeust.
So clearly everyone seems to go with Mic choice rather than Pre Amp.
I just wonder wouldnt the C1 or At 3035 sound realy good through the Universal audio M610.
Or am I kidding myself.

Lee.

It's possible a dynamic mic would come to life with a quality pre ... but otherwise, you're going to have more difference/subjective improvement by changing your mics. I know, you want another box to go on your worktop ... well I suppose if you buy the T3 at least you'll have an outboard power supply to connect up .........

...save your bucks...get the T3 and a GT Brick (both used on Ebay for about $500 total)...that will give you enough "Toob" options in combination with your existing equipment to add some "flava" to your recordings...both are excellent bang-for-the-buck products capable of delivering pro-quality recordings...(and the Brick has a BIG-ASS gain knob...not like those 'twiddly" little knobs on the RNP and DMP3...that's gotta account for somethin'! :D )...
