Im looking Hard for a compressor while searching i called a shop that is selling a Behringer tube composer for $699AUD (around 320USD)

The RNC is $600 over here so...
at least with the tube composer i could compress a stereo mix??

Its so damn tempting.
Are they really average?

Any comments??

Us Yanks have a chain of stores here called Guitar Center.Every January they have a big sale to get rid of inventory before they have to pay tax on it. I got one of the Behringert 1952 Tube Composers of which you speak there 3 weeks ago for $149 US. It is essentially a normal Composer tha t passes the signal through two 12ax7 tubes after compression on it's way to the output.Yes,it has a stereo mode which would enable it's use on a mix. I have no experience with the RNC so I can offer no comparison, but I will say that I feel I got my $150 worth,it sounds good and everything on it works. They may still have some left,I got mine in the Houston Westheimer store.

The RNC is a stereo compressor, so you would be able to run your mix through it just fine. Unbalanced though.... me, I do all the mixdown compressing and what not in the computer, I just like outboard stuff (like the RNC) on the way in.

Yeah i got my les paul from a guitar centre in detriot.

Ive become very disillusioned of PC signal processing maybee its because i use shareware plugins i dont know, but im going outboard from here.

I'll just use the PC for cut and paste :)

THanks for the comments

I think ill get two composer pros.

I've had a composer for about 6 years, and so far, its the best 2-channel compressor I have ever used. I intend to get a tube composer because... well, no reason really... i like toys, and i like the compressor and that's that.

I haven't messed with an RNC yet, but I have heard nothing but positive reviews

i bought a composer about three weeks ago, and played with it a little. In the end I decided that the sound quality wasn't quite what I was looking for. I am going to save up and get one of those dual racks of RNCs that everyone has now for like 375 bucks. I can't be confident in the Behringers sound quality over good software like Waves. RNC is a beauty though.

But, I suck with compression anyways. Sheezey for heezey my neezeys
