I have a Rode K2 with the stock tube. I also have a Hewlett Packard tube of the same type that says by Amperpex at the bottom. It has silver pins. Should this be an improvment over the stock tube? I also had one with gold pins but I could easily tell that the stock tube sounded better.

Also, how much should a NOS Siemens E88CC run? There are some on Ebay but they are about $175...

...keep an eye out for a gold-pinned NOS RCA 6DJ8 (made in Holland)...actually made by Amperex and sells for less than the same tube marked Amperex...or a gold-pinned German made RCA 6922 (Siemens) such as these:

...European tubes were often labelled for American companies like RCA, GE, etc...many were identical to their Amperex/Siemen labelled counterparts, but sell for less...

...E88CC/6922/6DJ8 are interchangeable...but keep in mind, until you mount it in your K2, there's no guarantee of improved sound...I have purchased an assortment of these tubes for under $10 on eBay and found a few that rivalled a Siemens 6922 I purchased for $85 from a NOS tube dealer (currently at home in my K2)...;)
