I am looking for a book that is very indepth about tube amps, the theory, what goes into them, basic construction. Basically stuff i need to make them. Anyone know of anygood books. I dont want a book that is just a guide to build one certain amp though. THanks

hmmm...

This is a tough one...

I've checked out a few books on the subject.

Dan Torres' book was the best I thought. The "untimate tone series" didn't do much for me (only checked out the 1st one.)

I keep referring back to the Torres book. Looking back it has been the best one when it comes to simple coverage of what you want to know. It covers everything from power supplies, transformers, classes of operation, biasing, to layout.

THere are other books that are more "indpeth" but this one will teach you all you know to get started building an amp. If you want to know how tubes work, then read up from the "RCA tube manual" found in the manuals section os schematic Heaven

Untill you get your book, check out ax84.com I absolutley love that site. I've wanted to build a P1 for several month now.... As soon as I get a few of my projects completed (or sold off) I'm going to try to build one of theres.

I'm also going to build one of thoose little cigarette 9 volt battery powered amps....

I've always wanted to learn more about amps myself. :D
