TS9 and TS10?

The TS9 is a true to the original reissue. It's as close to the original as current parts will allow.

The TS10 however, is an improved verison of the original. It claims to sound warmth, have better sustain, and "killer" tone.

I've never used either so that's all I know.
 
the real difference is one that you've heard... the TS9 was an "improvement" on the legendary TS808. they couldnt make the 808 anymore because some metal they used turned out to be hazardous or something(I hear).. so the 9 was born in the LATE 70S<<<<<------- thats the imortant part. listen to the kind of guitar tones people were getting back then... thats the market Ibanez was shooting at. in the EARLY TO MID 80S<<<<<----- they "upgraded" to the TS10. (which, IMHO sucks big time compared to the 9 or the 808) It has a much more shrill, mid 80s feel. in the LATE 90S<<---- they reissued the TS9... in response to the market once again, reflecting a trend of retro classic rock type tones. Its much more consistent than the original 9... but a good original blows away the reissue (but a good original is hard to find.. they aren't as consistent in tone). The DX is a 9 with a "90S vibe" whatever that is. Ive never played one and dont care to.

For the record... I sold my 808 when the trading price went up to $450, and bought a TS9 reissue. the 808 sounded good, but I was trashing it and needed the money. (and it was starting to short out some... but dont tell:))

I don't know about all the differences, but I gotta say that I've always read that the TS-9 is supposed to give a punchy "tube" tone. I believe it's suppose to emulate a tube overdrive sound, which it does in an effects box sort of way. I used to own a solid state combo and I bought a TS-9 because of the hype and some of my favorite players used them. I always liked the sound. I still do. But recently I bought a tube combo. Since then, live, I usually don't use any distortion or overdrive boxes. I love the amps overdrive. I haven't gotten rid of the boxes, though. In my studio, I listen to the differences and if you want a good overdriven chord progression, you might wanna go with the amp. If your gonna record a good, distinct lead, the TS-9 will make it stand out. I mostly pro-amps when it comes to overdrive.
