HI guys

I`m trying to set a string sound from my virus in the background of my mix. What i`m trying to achieve is a very wide spacial setting for this sound but have failed to do it so far.

I have been using the Lexicon MX200 for the brunt of my effects and need advice on how to do this.

I have tried various delay and verb settings but cant seem to make it spacialized enough.

can someone give me some pointers please and thankyou :D

im not sure what recording daw software you are using, but for me and my Sonar 4.............i usually record my synth and strings, then copy the entire track to a new track.

now that you have 2 string tracks, take one of the tracks and "nudge" it over about 19 milliseconds, or use a delay plug in and set the delay to 19 ms, and set it so its fully 100% wet signal only.

once you done that, pan one track hard left, and the other hard right. Doing this will give you a more stereo-ized spatial sound.

now add slight reverb to taste, and season it with whatever effects you like!

I dont use any DAW effects , sonar for me is a midi sequencer, I use outboard effects racks with a Soundcraft ES mixer and a Fostex M8R-HD.
