Hey, I have been interested in recording for a long time now. I am going to try to get started in my basement. Right now i have my drumset, my guitar and amp, my computer (DELL), 3 Behringer XM8500 Mics, and the cords and stands. Im trying to keep my budget under $1000 if i can. So i dont have buy new software for my comp i think im going to use REAPER. For my drums im going to get the cad 7 piece mic set and a Behringer Eurorack UB1202 Mixer(any input of that would be great). From what iv read it looks like for the vocals i will need preamp. So im guessing i would get the M-Audio DMP3. As for the sound card in another fourm i read the audiophile 2496 is good. What do I need to record the guitar and bass? Once i figure out what to get ill have more wuestions on how to work all of it and get it set up. Any input or suggestions would be great.
Thanks,

I found a link to tweaks guide. Do you really need a keyboard to record bass, drums, guitar, and singing. It also says you use the mixer for the sing, bass, and guitar. Dose this mean i shold get a bigger better mixer. The one tweaks recomends is behringer Eurorack UB1204FX-PRO Mixer. I am also confused about what cords i neew to hook the mixer up to computer and the mixer to the speakers. Any input would be great.

i should have read

Ok, I realized i should have read a little more befor i posted. Along with the above stuff i have some new questions. If i have 7 mics on the drums 2 guitars 1 bass and 2 mics can i hook them all up to the Behringer Eurorack UB1222FX-PRO Mixer? Also with REAPER could i recorded the instumental part of a song and have each mic record as a sepperate track or would i need a better recording program? I wonder that because that seems like the best way to record. I think thats all the questions i have for now and again any answers or input would be great.

no you could do it with this program. (i love reaper, spread the word of it!)...
but yeah, just assighn each input (each mic) to a different track, and theres an unlimited number of them offered lol, so its great that your using them. Just arm the track and then right click where the level meter is. oh and to set up your input (just incase you dont know) "ctrl + p" and then go to audio then device.

check out the forums for any more questions!

also:
you dont want the audiophile, because you arent going to need the inputs, its not going to get you anywhere.
the mixer your looking at has, i think, 4 preamps for the four mic ins.

but yes' you will need a bigger mixer if you need more than for ins, which you do. my only suggestion is to do alittle more reaserch on the basics of this because you seem to have missed a few bits of inportant info.

so like i said, you need to just learn from the start. look up set ups of home studios, ask around here how every thing works. go to barnes and noble and look at the beginer recording section (i am in no means belittleing you, i am of course still learning my way around too).

i like and own: the everything recording book

there are millions more, and im sure thease guys have many other suggestions!
good luck!
