Hello All,
I need to purchase new equipment for my home studio and would like some suggestions. What I am looking for is an "all-in-one" digital console that has 8 simultaneous inputs and 16 tracks. Please post your suggestions or e-mail me at: operation_neddy@yahoo.com Thanks!

Roland VS units are great. If you need 16 tracks though, you'll probably need the VS-1680 or VS-2480. Both can record at least 8 at a time.

I've only just bought the Korg D1600, after using PC-based software for a few years, and used it for the 1st time this weekend - It is superb. The Roland (VS 1824) is also meant to be good but does have compressed sound that you can't turn off.

The VS units do use some sort of internal proprietary compression, but (IMO) I don't think there's any sort of compressed sound at all. I've heard some amazingly crystal clear recordings with a VS-1680.

I'm a die-hard Roland 1680 fan--you can't go wriong with these babies. They're cheap now too.
