does anyone have any suggestions of labels to check into, any advice to help me out in my search, any advice on packaging/press kits/etc... to help bring attention to my material?

Im out of ct theres a kid Apathy made some noise on the underground signed to atlantic maybe a year ago came out with a cd with minimal promo, he dropped a mixtapelast month dissing his label for not supporting him and is in a magazine complaining about them..
To keep it short untill you have a buzz like 50 there not going to spend much on you.

honestly, labels dont even develop artist anymore,
they want somebody whose sellin their music independently and is doing good numbers and already has a solid fanbase, pretty much ready to go,
so its better to juss do everything yourself independently
roll with somthing like, www.discmakers.com
they'll make your complete cd package juss send em the cd and a cover booklet,
so the cd will be ready to sell instores with the plasicwrap, barcode, n registration at soundscan to track how many you sell, juss like what you see on the shelves
n the packages are like 1000 complete cds for $1200

There's a fair number of independent (generally punk) labels that will listen to any demo that is sent to them. Some of these include Springman records, probably Asbestos records, etc. However, I really can't guarantee what a contract with one of these small companies will get you.

so basically, as of right now, all of my self promotion/self booking/etc.. is just as good as a small label would get me? as far as sales, i do most of my sales online through a company called snocap, and i also sell cds personally, and have a few music shops locally that will sell my cds for me anytime i bring them in.
