Not what i usually do, but here's something i'm workin on at the minute.

Started off trying to emulate the old commodore/amstrad sounds in NI massive and it turned into a song.


Work in progress but may as well share :)

this sounds delicious... nice vocals, and the synths are sweet... Ironically i was playing the original turrican the otherday hee hee... i love those old systems.. just wish i could get my commodore emulator to work.... interested to hear this finished. rock on sir.

Not bad. I'm not crazy about that "snare" sound, but whatever. Maybe bring the vocals up a little.
 
Fair play Greg. The snare is very unnatural.
The pattern kinda kills it too, cos there's no variation, but that's on my to-do list.


I have to admit i thought it was a bit upfront myself; Do you agree?

The snare? No, I think it's level is fine. It seems up front with the vocals low, but if you bring the vocals up I think it will all balance out.
 
yea, the snare is a little up front no doubt, but in keeping with the synthetic nature of the song, aside from maybe lowering the volume i wouldn't over tweak it or attempt to humanize it... simplicity can be good for feel in a lot of instances.
 
ok,cool...i'll do a little work on the vox 2 moro then :)

I think it'll all be re-recorded, up until the section with harmonies anyway.
 
You could mix that a bunch of different ways and it'll be ok. Pretty interesting tune though. Kind of different.
 
Very cool indeed. Great synth work. The vox almost sound like Tom Petty in a dub step tune. Nice modern original sound. Excellent!

Ive been getting into massive heavily recently...Ive had it for over a year and barely got into it...what a great synth
 
An honorary one, but yeh :) I guess so!

You have to dress the part though, I mean, I went and got slippers and all sorts!
 
I love this, which is odd because i usually wouldnt.

as far as the snare goes.. i love the level, if anything i would up the kick quite a bit to match it and leave the vocals where they are , maybe even drop them a bit so the music sounds BIG....

lets face it... this song belongs in the clubs.
