...on this one.We had a rainy 4th of July, so I was lucky enough to get some time to do some recording yesterday....was trying for a different sound/vibe then the last few I have done...downloaded some White Lion patches for my Podxtlive, tweaked em , and came up with this guitar riff/groove....I used my Gibson Firebird Studio for the rhythm guitars and my Strat for the solo....think I'm gonna add some Guitar in the intro...not sure yet...the intro may be too long...
Vocals are kinda weak as usual...I did leave the lead vox really dry....
Here it is all comments welcomed.

In case you wanna sing along:
SANDI
When
A trip to the store, becomes
An all night fling
Please
Tell me your problems
And lets begin our little thing
The phone rings
I know that its you
You just popped some pills and cut your hair
Drink
Your fill of the swill
And assume your nom de guerre
Chorus:
Sandi!
She’s orange and black perfection
Like A whipped and dipped delight
Sandi!
Like a notch in her lipstick
You’ve become another speed bump in her life

Like a soft boiled egg she don’t rest easy
Her face will consume her words petrify
She will tickle you with butter
And tease you with her mango pie
You better giver her what she needs, stroke her ego
Feed her thighs

Sandi!
Is feeling pretty angry
Not getting
What she wants
She will coax you with jelly
Then tricks you with corn
Like a fickle squab
Upon a nest of thorns
Like
A bloated spider
She sits on the phone
Surrounded by the husks of former mates
But
This is not the end
For when she wakes
She begins again!
chorus

well i'm not really into this type of metal but the guitar tone sounded pretty cool. How did you do the drums? Were they programmed? They sounded pretty cool. I would have liked to hear more of a bigger/reverby snare like you hear in arena rock. Vocals would have been cooler with more delay or reverb. I'm new to recording so I can't offer too much but overall it sounded pretty good to me.

I used drum loops by Simon Phillips...I just cut and paste and mix and match to get em to work for whatever song I'm doing.....I usually go way overboard on reverb, so Im trying to keep my stuff pretty dry initially...and add it after Ive had a few days to listen, plus getting feedback from sites like this helps a ton....a lot of great ears on here!!!;)
Thanks for checking out the tune!!

Definitely that 80's thing.....sounds pretty good to me. Reminds me a bit of VH or RATT....

I think you pieced it together well....some good sounds, and tones you would find from this era. nice and simple. It's a cool song.

Well done man....

Thanks Dog, Ratt was probaly my fav from the early 80's hair dayz! Always dug Warren DeMartini's style and tone.

Hey sounds pretty good man. The verse definitely has a VH guitar vibe to it. The drums could definitely be "bigger". I'm barely hearing the kick and a marginal snare. Bring those dudes up some and hang some reverb on the snare. The whole mix is kinda "dark". Not much air or shine to it. I'd like to hear a little more air and thump to it for that big 80's rock sound. Cool song though. Keep working on it. :)

Hey there.
Nice mix, I would boost the low end of your bass guitar though, and bring up your kick drum a bit also. The vocals stick out too much at times, so keep an ear out for them. Try volume automation if compression doesn't tame the vocals enough.
I mastered your mix for you.
Hope you like. :)

I like that guitar tone! What amp did you use?
I think you captured the 80's metal thing perfectly with the vocals guitars and bass. The only thing that isn't too metal is the snare... IMO you need to add some high's to the snare and then put a little verb on it.

Nice job!

Greg_L - I agree Greg, I'm not to happy on the drums...definitely too weak for this kinda thing.I have not really done any eq on this ...will try and brigthen it up a bit.

ecktronic - Wow!!!...thanks man, that sounds a lot better!! I'm such a hack..I can never get my stuff to sound like that:o! Curios as to what you actually did...I am going to try and address the issues you brought up.
Thanks again for taking the time to do that and the feedback...I really appreciate it!!

jamesduysen - I used a Podxtlive...the amp model was a Marshall JMP-1...There version of a Marshall rackmount pre-amp.Agree about the drums...,working on them!!
Thanks for listening!

I used EQ to shape and control the low end, and played about with the high mids, and boosted the highs a bit. I cut some low mids to clean up the mix also.
I used compression to try and tame the vocals if I remember correctly. Added a stereo expander to open up the mix a tad.
I then limited the mix with L2 to boost the volume.

Glad you like.

Listening now. MUCH better. The bass is a little loud, but the tone sounds right on. Very Van Halen-ish. Like the roomy snare. The lead guitar sounds fantastic. Only nit now is the lack of kick presence and the vox may be a little too wet. They're kinda hard to understand. Much better though. Awesome! :)
