Greetings, homerecording.com community!
Ok allow me to go straight to the problem.
I wanted to do a little voice recording at home using my computer, so yesterday I went out and bought an MXL Mic Mate. Now I'm using it with a V67G.
What happens is, the mic hardly picks up anything. It's not like it doesn't work at all. It DOES work, because when I play the records, I can hear my voice still; it's just very low.
I've worked with different condenser mics at my friend's home studio before, so I know their abilities when it comes to picking up sound. With the setup using the Mic Mate, I would have to stand 3 inches (yes, THREE, it's not a typo) away from the V67 and sing into it, and that's when my voice starts to become moderately audible (to put it simple, it's pretty much the quality of my $15 logitech usb microphone).
I've switched the gain on the Mic Mate to High. I've checked all sound settings in my computer and pull the microphone volume to the maximum. Nothing helped. Now I really don't know what to do.
Please help!

I'm not familiar with it but what you describe is like a condensor mic acts when it isn't getting phantom power. Look to see if there is a phantom power switch for the mic mate and/or make sure your cable is balanced.

USB Mic Preamp with Plenty of Gain

Check out the MicPort Pro from CEntrance. You get plenty of gain (a knob versus a three-position switch), as well as a direct headphone out so you can monitor yourself with zero latency as you record. You'll probably want to also get a better mic. I like the Oktava MK-101. In my opinion, to sound your best and have maximum flexibility/portability, you'll need to spend about $500 between a good condenser mic and a good USB mic preamp.

MXL Mic Mate

Sorry you seem to having trouble with the Mic Mate.
It's possible that you have a faulty Mic Mate, however, the failure rate on these has been near zero. With the V67G, you should be getting plenty of gain to your computer. Possibly there is a configuration fault.
