trouble with mv-8000 adding keyboard

hi, im new to this forum and also new to the mv-8000 or beat machine period, im having a hard time geting the midi keyboard to work on my mv, when i connect it, i can here the sounds of my pads on the keyboard keys along with the notes as well, can anyone tell me the proper way to connect as well as the proper settings for the keyboard?

Select a different MIDI channel for the keyboard than is set for the pads. The pads are set for certain MIDI note numbers, so when you hit that note on the same MIDI channel as the pads it is triggering the pattern(s) assigned to the pads on the MV.
