Trouble recording with Sony Acid Pro 7

Hello everyone,
I'm new to this so please bear with me. I'm having trouble when trying to record vocals in Sony Acid Pro 7. When i record there is no waveform registering as it records, just a flat line. When i play the track back i can hear the vocals but they are very soft and unclear. I've tried increasing the mic volume on my audio interface but no help. If anyone has any ideas to fix this it would be much appreciated.

What kind of mic, pre and audio interface are you using.

Define quiet when you record what are the peaks on the recorded vocal when you play back?

i'm using a rode NT1-A mic, Yamaha audiogram 3 audio interface on my Hp laptop (not exactly sure how to check what sound card is in here), hope that helps..
 
Are you plugging the mic into into the XLR (3 pin) of the Yamaha interface and do yo uhave phantom power turned on?
 
yeah its in the XLR point and the phantom is turned on. everything was working fine until yesterday. ive tried switching everything off and on, unplugged everthing and replugged it...nothing/
 
does it record with different mic?
if your interface has multiple inputs, maybe you have selected wrong input in Acid?
 
Or if everything was working fine and then suddenly stopped, assuming there is no physical problems with Mic, Cables or interface you made need to uninstal and reinstal the drivers for the audio interface
 
hey guys, once again thanks for the replies.
apparently the yamaha interface doesn't have its own drivers and uses the ones from the computer. how do i change the input in acid?? i know probably a silly question..
 
I just reset the MIDI inputs on Acid and it all started working again...thanks again guys, couldn't have done it without you.

hello, Im using acid pro 7 and have been experiencing some trouble recording simple audio wave files.. the thing is that everything is set for recording and then nothing apears on the file..no sound, just a flat line... if anyone knows how to fix this problem woud be great help for me.. Thanks
